Who are LA Guns?
LA Guns formed in 1983 on Los Angeles' iconic Sunset Strip and is one of the cornerstones of hair metal and classic hard rock . Founded by guitarist Tracii Guns , the band played a key role in rock history due to its early connection with Axl Rose , which would eventually lead to the creation of Guns N' Roses after LA Guns merged with Hollywood Rose in 1985.
After several lineup changes, the band solidified its classic formation with Phil Lewis on vocals, Mick Cripps on guitar, Kelly Nickels on bass, and Steve Riley on drums. Their self-titled 1988 debut captured a raw, Aerosmith-inspired sound that immediately resonated with hard rock fans. Their next album, Cocked & Loaded (1989), gave them their big commercial breakthrough with the gold-certified hit "The Ballad of Jayne."
