The Latin American Literature Festival brings together authors from across Latin America and the Caribbean each year to engage with the city, its readers, and its cultural scene. It serves as a vibrant bridge between Barcelona and the voices shaping Spanish and Portuguese literature today.
A festival to read, listen and think about Latin America from Barcelona
KM America is a project driven by Casa America Catalunya y Libraries of Barcelona, curated by the Mexican writer Eduardo Ruiz Sosa.
For several days, the city is filled with conversations, interviews, readings aloud, literary routes, workshops and shows that bring Latin American literatures into dialogue with the Catalan scene.
The festival proposes a thematic axis different: the body and the word, real and imaginary cities, memory, territories, borders…
From this common thread, a program is built that invites us to think about how lives are written, remembered and imagined in Latin America.
Authors, cities and accents that fill Barcelona with literatureBarcelona of literature
Names like Horacio Castellanos Moya, Nona Fernandez, Liliana Colanzi, Gabriela Cabezón Camera, Brenda Navarro, Rodrigo Rey Rosa, Maria Negroni o Tatiana Salem Levy, among many others.
Alongside them, Catalan writers and academics also participate, acting as moderators and accomplices in the conversations.
The activities are spread across different areas of the city: Casa America Catalunya, Gabriel García Márquez Library, other facilities in the network of libraries, cultural centers and neighborhoods that become the setting for routes and readings.
Barcelona thus transforms into a literary map where Latin American accents resonate in squares, halls and libraries.
